– DACA - DEFERRED ACTION FOR
EARLY CHILDHOOD ARRIVALS –
Deferred action allows individuals who came to the United States as children to defer removal action against them for a certain period of time, two years currently, provided they meet certain requirements. While being granted deferred action allows individuals to become eligible for work authorization, it does not grant lawful residency status. Furthermore, the entire process is discretionary, and if granted, must be renewed prior to the expiration date. As a discretionary process with changing guidelines, it is important to consult an immigration attorney to avoid potential deportation proceedings.
