PRACTICE AREAS > CIVIL LITIGATION > HICPA - HOME IMPROVEMENT CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT

– HICPA - HOME IMPROVEMENT
CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT
–

HICPA protects homeowners who have $500 or more work performed on their private residence against home improvement fraud committed by contractors. The act requires home improvement contractors who perform more than $5,000 in annual business to register with the Attorney General’s Office, Bureau of Consumer Protection and obtain a registration number, and necessitates inclusion of certain contractual provisions for the contract to be enforceable. If you think you may be a victim of home improvement fraud, you should seek an attorney to determine if HICPA applies. Likewise, if you are a contractor and need more information on how to become HICPA compliant, an attorney can help ensure your home improvement contracts meet the requirements of HICPA.

Whether you are a registered contractor or homeowner, contact Kristin A. Molavoque, Esquire to discuss your case and help you navigate the legal process to protect your rights.
